National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru

A quiet oasis in the midst of the chaotic bustling city of Bangalore or Bengaluru. Our rickshaw driver, however, wasn't familiar with the place and we almost gave up trying to find it. We rounded out the day with a visit to Lal Bagh Gardens and Commercial Street.

Exploring the Famous Devaraja Bazaar in Mysuru

It's hard to beat the sights and sounds of India. Here are a few pictures of the market. We ate excellent masala doasa and all the sides dishes for a few pennies. The funny miscalculation of the trip was selling off our two forty-rupee locks for two hundred rupees to unsuspecting trusting fellow travelers at the station cloak room. Oh well, it was done innocently.

Touring Mysore Palace

The old palace was pretty impressive; however, we were only allowed to take pictures outside it.

Day tripping to Mysuru City

Raphael, Andrew and I took the train to Mysore at 4:30 am to spend the day there sightseeing. Our first stop was the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, where Andrew speaking Hindi secured our tickets at the price for locals. The autorickshaw was hired on the condition Andrew got to drive it. Lunch was decidedly a Raphael event.

From London to Krishna's Village

Andrew visited us while we in Hosur and met my parents again for the second time. The first time was in London in 2012. He spoke Urdu with dad and learned a few Khasi words from mom - and wowed everyone else with his fluency in Hindi.

Lost in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh

Attempting to return to Hosur from Bangalore by train, Raphael, Andrew and I got on the wrong train and had an unexpected adventure.

Republic Day in Hosur

We joined the 67th anniversary Republic Day festivities at the Seventh-Day Adventist Matric Higher Secondary School a short walking distance from my parents' home in Hosur.
